Getting the best from your massage chair



Whatever your reasons for purchasing a massage chair, you clearly want to derive the maximum benefit from it and to do this you really do need to think about where you will site it in your home.  One of the main benefits (but there are many more) is the deep feeling of relaxation you can get from a massage treatment.  Perhaps you’ve had a stressful day at work and you arrive home feeling tense and suffering from the stress of the day.There are a number of ways that you could unwind but one of the simplest and self indulgent methods is to spend 30-60 minutes on your massage chair. Locate it well and you will amplify the stress reduction effect that will come from your session on the chair.

In modern times, therapeutic massage has become a much more accepted treatment for a large number of conditions. Research is indicating that massage can lower blood pressure, provide a boost to the immune system, reduce the impact of some hormones which can be released during stressful times and increase the levels of mood -lifting chemicals such as serotonin.

So where in your house or, apartment would be an ideal setting?  We’ve already said that one of the main benefits of massage is stress removal and relaxation so you should try  to can create the perfect environment that will compliment your chair.  Do you have a spare room or bedroom?  If you have a home office, or study you could perhaps use that.  Ideally, it’s somewhere quiet, preferably with lighting that can be subdued, away from other members of the household.  Chairs like the Shiatsu 9000 massage chair do not take up a lot of room but do offer a full back and leg massage so no, you don’t have to build an extension onto your home to buy and use such a chair!

Another thing that helps with the ambience of relaxation is of course, music.  Perhaps there’s a stereo system in the room you’re planning to use, or you could simply put some headphones on and use an MP3 player but, be sure that where ever your music comes from, that it’s the right sort of music!  No heavy metal stuff, just tunes that are soothing and in themselves would normally help to relax you.If you choose well then the time it takes to achieve that perfect state of relaxation will dramatically reduce and so maximise whatever time you’ve allotted to the session. Even as little as 15 minutes will leave you feeling rejuvenated and happier in yourself.

The final part of the equation is you!  Get rid of any tight clothing or even better take everything off and perhaps wrap a dressing gown around you to keep warm.  Don’t forget those toes either, a comfortable pair of slippers and you’re ready to start your treatment.

Okay, so now you’re comfortable and already starting to anticipate the relaxation you know you will soon feel, you dim the lights and you’re ready.  You get onto your chair, choose the massage program you want to run and then pull the recline lever.  The rhythmic motion of the chair’s rollers start to get to work on your back, pressing into muscles that you didn’t realise were aching and then the rollers move round gently relieving the ache in a way that already feels sooooo good.  The gentle sound of perhaps of a cedar, or bamboo flute is dancing a melody in your ears that already has your mind drifting away to that place of total relaxation ….
